Adjusting cncrouterparts bearing trucks

O.K. I see on cncrouterparts pages there is a video on how to adjust the bearings on each individual truck to the thickness of the CRS plate but how do you adjust the pair of them to the width of the CRS plate? Does one side of the mounting plate have oblong holes or something?

You can see there is an oblong hole in the third pic where he is adjusting the set screw (in the link below). The next pic shows the opposite side and the nut that goes in a milled slot for thickness adjustment.

I have been using flat steel plates to join my carriages in a vertical rail configuration. I use 5/16" clearance holes for bolting the top carriages to the gantry riser plates. These are the "reference" carriages for squaring the gantry plates. The holes at the bottom of the riser plates are either oversize or slightly oblong to allow some upward movement of the lower carriages against the lower edge of the vertical rail. A couple of "C" clamps are used to snug the lower carriage bearings against the rail and the mounting bolts are tightened. In my case, the lower carriages just keep the gantry from raising upwards while doing plunges into hard materials. The 185 pound gantry is enough in itself for most other reasons it might try to raise up.

As far as I know I'm the only one building my machines this way, but it works very well.

I've been looking into these parts as well... For the plate once you make you slotted hole, you could drill and tap for a set screw on the plate edge,which could help with fine adjustment....

On the FLA machines, the carriages are mounted using carriage bolts to 8020 extrusions. You just have to clamp the carriages together, square them to the gantry, and tighten the bolts. This is one of the advantages of this design: The X gantry beam rides directly on the carriages, which ride on the CRS rail. The Z assembly mounts the same way on the gantry beam.

True, and I have already been thinking of doing that to mine on the latest machine since it is not fully assembled yet.
