I wired up my x-axis stepper, triple checked all electrical connections, turned on the disconnect and threw the reset (go) button. All lights in my panel were on. The stepper motor locked up.... good sign. Then for no reason, no smoke, no burns, my boards were dead, no lights. 24VDC power supply was not working. Started removing fuses and found that it all comes back to life when I disconnect my Xylotex board. I have no clue what happened. VREFS were set properly, stepper was soldered to the cable and sounded (ohmed) out without any problem back to the Xylotex. Now I'm awaiting a reply from Jeff at Xylotex to see what I do next. What a way to ruin my Sunday.
Here is my configuration in Mach and on the Xylotex breakout connection. Does anyone see any problems here:
DB25 Pin Number:
2 - Step X (Xylotex)
3 - Dir X (Xylotex)
4 - Step Y (Xylotex)
5 - Dir Y (Xylotex)
6 - Step Z (Xylotex)
7 - Dir Z (Xylotex)
8 - Step B (Xylotex)
9 - Dir B (Xylotex)
14 - Dir A (Wired from Xylotex BOB connection to Probotix Side Step (Dir Low Active)
16 - Step A Wired from Xylotex BOB connection to Probotix Side Step (Step Low Active)
17- Spindle Control (Wired from Xylotex BOB connection to CNC4PC relay board)
Any help is appreciated. This is really not a good way to start the CNC electronics testing process![]()
