    4'x8' Cutting area machine plans

Hi All. It's been a long time since I was on ethe boards here, but I'm looking for plans to build a machine that will be able to cut full sheets of plywood for me. If I ever so beyond 1/2" I'll be shocked. I'm not too worried about the linear ways, drive system or spindle, but I'd rather skip designing the base and gantry structures if I can. Thanks for any links you can post.

I highly recommend the MechMate Design. Here is a link MechMate CNC Router - Build your own with our detailed plans

You will have to register to be able to see the pictures on the site. You will have to pay for the plans now, but they are up to 74 successful build logs and ??? un-logged machines. The forum is a great source of info and everyone over there is very helpful and knowledgeable. So I believe it well worth the money.

I was thinking more of a wood framed job. I have no problems cutting a lot of wood, but I've never learned to weld.

I you want to cut 1/2" on full size sheets you better use a metal frame, specially if you are planning to use this machine on a daily base.

Gerald designed the Mechmate in such a way that welding almost cannot go wrong, and Mike (Metalhead) can help you with all laser cut parts.

I have never done welding myself, but I have welded the y-car and gantry myself, and that for a computer guy!

My advice, read the forum ask questions, then you will have a better understanding.
