    Little Machine Shop Spindle

    http://littlemachineshop.com/product...ory=-269978449

    Hi guys,

What do you guys think about this? I will only have access to 110V power, so 220 V is out of question.

The intended use will be for hobby CNC milling on a 12"x12"x6" desktop mill w/ a moving table. Nothing too fast, it is not really that important.

I like how the low and high speeds are in a good range for milling metals, but I'm not sure if it has enough power?

I really wanted to get the chinese spindle at first, but I don't have access to the 220V power at the moment.

Also, I dropped them an email to ask them about the runout of the system, so we'll see how good it is

Oh yeah, R8 or 3MT? All I know is 3MT is more permanent and meant to stay in there unless I wanna hammer it out...

The last option would be to get a strong AC motor and manually make a spindle for it, but if time runs out, I'll be getting this instead to save time and frustration.

    thanks!

    Thumbs up

    Rontruong,

Have you seen the work Hoss2006 has done with the X2?

No doubt very capable for what it is.

Get the R8 spindle version. There is much more tooling available for it at low prices. R8 tooling requires a light hammer tap on the jack screw that holds it into the spindle also.

    runout

Check reviews at www.mini-lathe.com for runout examples.

lathe and mill spindle have similar construction and runout.

so from looking at hoss's website and all prices... it seems like its a lot cheaper to buy an X2 and work off that...?

    what do you guys think....?

I was summing up buying the column and the spindle assembly... and making my own x-y stage.. but it'd probably come close to the cost and take more time...
