    Anti-Backlash Nut Placement

Assume that you have a 12” long carriage riding on an axis driven by an acme screw. You have the ability to mount the anti-backlash nut on the carriage either closest to the drive end (0”), in the center (+6”), or farthest from the drive end (+12”). What factors would you consider in choosing the location?

Ease of installation, reduction of travel caused by nut placement, ease of shielding nut from debris (if desired), and ease of nut mounting flange design / fabrication come to mind.
