Hi guys, I have been waiting on my caps to arrive to finish my motor power supply and to test my controller but they are taking forever. I have most of the system mapped out and keen to see if I can get my computer talking to the controller asap. While I wait for my caps to arrive would it be safe to use a much smaller switchmode 12v/5A supply and use the correct current limiting resistors to test my controller to test my system? Also what current is safe to run into 203v before they need to be heatsinked? The motors I have are Nema 34 960 oz/in Stepper from homeshopcnc and 4 203v Thanks Jestah

wow, your right it could harm the drives.... Good thing im a horder and have a small collection of junk around and found a 300va 24v toroidal transformer and some 10000uf 75v caps that could work until my 100v caps arrive. thanks for the heads up before i blew my drives!

"HEATSINKING: The G203V needs heatsinking for current settings greater than 3 amps. The case temperature" I have just relised that my heatsink has not arrived yet either. would it be safe in the mean time to install a 12.8K resistor and limit the current to 1.5A at around 34v?
