golfietis 2nd router

My first post in this forum...

I like to read build threads very much. A lot of info can be found, and new ideas...

Although machine is almost build now, I decided to put photos with some notes for others....

I started this build November, by assemblying everything in Solidworks.

Decided to build MDF router, as MDF is soft to work with, but quite stiff for router frame...

I had CNC router (Zoltar design) so I cut all parts with my router... All motors and drivers will be used from first router (probotix kit with yellow motors)..

So here it is some progress pictures:

Everything started from this:

My first CNC router:

I have time to work only in the evenings, as sometimes in the wekends.. It took me whole week to cut parts for X axis:

Another week, and X axis glued together:

I bought all linear components from linearmotionbearings on ebay... X axis got 16mm supported rails, and 1610 ballscrew (lenght 810mm), Y and Z axies got 12mm supported rails and 1605 ballscrews...

Started assembly from Z axis:

And another progress pictures:

Because my garage is not 100% dry, and I decided to make router from MDF, I needed to prevent frame from moisture. I covered all edges of the frame with 1k putty, and then painted all frame with automotive paint - that was the most borring part of all:

And finally first test of my machine:

I configured Mach3 to run my machine:

350 in/min for X axis;
200 in/min for Y axis;
118 in/min for Z axis;

Looks quite promising...

Buy me a Beer?

Very nicely done.

But I really hate having to go to ImageShack to look at pics.

Very nicely done. Looks great. Let me ask you, on your bearing blocks did you put two bearings in each block or one? Also, if you get the chance, can you post some pictures on how your ball screws are secured? What stops them from moving back and forth in the in the bearing blocks?

Each axis has 4 ball bearing blocks, each block has 1 bearing...

X and Z ballscrews has big 2 row bearings fitted on them (in the motor side). This bearing then goes into blind hole, and is secured with two bolts from moving.

Other end of the ballscrew has also bearing fitted with bearing block on it... You actually can see this in my pictures posted in this post...

With Y axis I made a mishap and forgot to design bearing block... So now it is hold by bearing block on a "free" end, and a piece of garden hose acting as a connection to the motor... This bearing block will be first part cut with this new router
