is it possible to create such a table that will meet the needs of laser cutting and processing wood and to be relatively easy to use

If your planing to use a water bed, and have it removable?. You will find, your z axis may need to be longer... or make adjustable bed?... This may be the most practical if you planing on having a lathe also.... Take the time
to find what you needsa are....
