4th Axis reduction gearbox

I am in the process of making a 4th axis for my router. My question is what ratio works best? I have a really nice compact 10:1 which i would like to use, would this work, or should i be look at a higher ratio. What i am making is close to this in the picture, only direct rather than 90'. Thanks in advance.
