| How do you calculate, estimate the nedeed power from the Router, spindle? I have calculated my stalling cutting force to about 1200N (steppers stalling). Practical cutting force under speed might be around 600N?! I suppose there is a correlation between cutting force, material to be cut, etc and nedeed spindle power? could some one explain this relationship, and give me a estimate on what spindle power would be reasonable? |

| Cutting force depends on what material your cutting, how much your cutting at once, what tooling your using, and how fast your going. You ned to provide that info to get an answer on what size spindle you need.

| you'll have to look in an engineering manual but the actual force of a stepper motor will be severly deminished by the screw. with action much like driving a wedge uphill including friction and every thing my two newton metre, or 260 oz/inch steppers transmitt roughly 100 newtons through a ballscrew of 5mm pitch. |

Possibly, but I'd recommend at least 2HP.
