Well, I have to break down and ask for help. I picked up a CNC machine today and the problem is, the spindle is motor and belt driven. The motor that drives the spindle is 100 VDC 10 Amp. Finding a power supply is next to impossible, unless I want to take out a 2nd mortgage on the house. So I want to replace the motor with something in the 24 vdc range, 3000 rpm and the power supply to run it. Here's a couple of photos of the current set up. I was told the belt drive was 4:1. Thanks |

All you need is a DC motor drive. The drive takes in 120 vac 240 vac and output a DC voltage. The drives can also give a variable output voltage resulting in variable speed. I have several used ones made by Seco or there are other manufactures. http://cgi.ebay.com/DANFOSS-CYCLETRO...item3efa33dd4c Something like this should be what you are looking for. Many of them have analog input to allow programing the spindle speed form the CNC controller. If nothing else some of them have a pot on the front that lets you control the speed manually. If all you want is on and off, then just set the pot to max and leave it. The one that I have can give on and off plus speed control from the CNC controller. Let me know if this answers the question. | What is the amperage? Looks like it might work. Would be nice to control the speed from MACH3 as well. The guy I got the machine form had a power supply made by HP and he paid something like $350.00 If I can power this motor for your kind of price, I'll keep the motor that came with it. |

| You can also use something like this, I think, https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.a...tname=electric

| The diagram seems fairly explicit, where is the confusion from? Al.

It may be for someone who is electronic oriented but not for me. Someone had re-wired the controller I have and none of the wires are where they appear in the photo. Maybe I can try to trace back and re-wire mine as it appears in the manual. There is a dead short between L1 and L2 as the wiring goes from L1 to the on/off switch through the light and back to L2. IF I am reading things correctly, the AC power should connect to L1 and L2 and the motor to L3 and L4. Last edited by GAWnCA; 05-09-2010 at 11:18 AM. |
