| cnc2k, These leadnuts put my cnc router at less than .0005 backlash, I use the 1/2-8 (2 start) screws. My 1" travel indicator can't tell me any closer than that really... I have backlash comp turned off in Mach2 (finally). I feel these leadnuts are zero backlash but can't guarantee it, you also have to take into account other factors that cause backlash such as endplay of the motors (if direct drive), pullies, belts, mounts, etc... plus the actual acme screw has a tolerance, usually .009 per foot. | I managed to build pretty good nuts from brass. Idea is little bit similar to that derling nut but without spring loading. See it here: http://www.students.tut.fi/~kontkant/jv2.php.html Last time I adjusted the nut, I got less than 0.005 mm backlash (0.0002"). |
