Y axis Wobbles

The only problem I have right now with my new CNC router machine is that the Y axis wobbles when the gantry is in about the middle of the screw. That is about a travel of 12” and all the rest is fine.

The screws are ACME precision 1/2"-10 screws with Delrin nut and the length of the Y screw is 36”. When the machine works the lines drawn are straight so there is no problem with function of the machine, she just sound like a coffee grinder at that spot and it’s annoying.

Does any one have a quick fix for this?

Leadscrew whip perhaps? Does it go when you reduce the feedrate?

Yes it does go away when I reduce speed. Not a real problem, just annoying.

Any fixes?

There are a couple of ways to deal with it:
1) Tension the leadscrew so that the whip is reduced.
2) Use a multiple-start leadscrew so that the RPM is reduced for a given velocity.
