| Hello, Just getting started routing about a year after I began looking for surplus parts on ebay. X axis is timing belt driven 36" max. running on Hiwin ball bearing slides. Y axis is a thomson unit with 32" of travel. z axis around 2". All were purchased on ebay for less than $300 total. I had steel angle iron frame welded up along with x axis motor mount. The rest is plywood and 2 by 4's. An old desktop serves as the table. Running turbocnc on MSDOS pc driving Gecko controllers. I'm pretty pleased with the performance, but will probably upgrade the y axis motor as it is much slower than the xaxis. Also will be buying a real router to replace the $20 Chinese laminate trimmer. -Paul in Iowa |
