Spindle that can machine aluminum

I think in order to build the table I eventually want I am going to have to build a smaller table to manufacture some parts since I don't have a mill.

What kind of "spindle" is required to be able to machine some aluminum?

I was at Harbor Freight this evening and looked at a couple of drill press vices they have and I think I could use one of those on a small table (I am thinking about 12"x12" of actual travel).

I looked at the routers they have there and they are rather large except for the trim router.
