Been to old stock warehouse today and got some stuff for my first machine, the machine is going to be a tabletop router, it will be small cause i only found small size equipment. i got 4 complete linear drive units like this: the rails are about 12" long and 1 unit like this for the Z axis: all units use this nema17 motor which i couldnt find exact info about: Since i dont have access to any milling machine i'm trying to use this stuff as much as possible as is, and i need some ideas on how to build the machine from these parts. since they are complete units each on a sturdy base i was thinking that at least for the X axis i could use a unit for each side, for the Y axis i'll have to take it apart and construct somthing for the gantry since this base will be too haevy ( i think). I also don't know yet how to mount the tool to the Z axis stage since it an odd shape. In short, i need ideas and help ![]() Thanks Eran |

| Well you could make a moving table type of machine, and basically bolt 2 of the units some how to one of the units, and then that way you would have a 2 unit moving x with a moving y unit on a table and then one for the Z. Follow what i am saying? ill try to draw a quick 3D model. |

I worked on few version, my drawings are schematic (sketchup) but i hope they pass the general idea, the black parts are models of actual components i have(photos in post #1) this is V1: this is V2: EDIT:I added V3: The diffrence between V1 and V2 is the use of a complete actuator unit - like the one in the photos in post #1 in V1, and the use of a more "standard" setup of two rails+one screw in V2. V3 is usine an actuator on each side of the X axis, a concept similar to the lumenlab micro. Thanks Eran Last edited by eran k; 08-02-2009 at 10:36 AM. |
