hey all! need a lil' help. i am running a CNC 4 Axis Package with 425 oz-in motor and KL-4030 Bipolar Driver with 36V/8.8A with an outlet powering the 36v power supply all from keilling. mach3 software. i wired it like of their wiring diagram,4 solid color wires from motors only thing wired in system (corresponding wires with white stripe not wired to anything) . i have everything hooked up, parallel cable perfect. all wiring connections has been checked twice allready for good solid connection(first thing to do introuble shooting). i have not wired in lim switches or turned them on in mach3 to simplify start up. my e-stop switch i wired in communicates fine with mach3. i have my computers parallel driver settings to "set automatically" and my port names are correct from computer to mach3. have correct pin numbers in ports and pins for the motors, and all enabled. kernals lowest setting. all motor config. set to revs (3600) with 7/16-8 4 start screw. my output settings have nothing selected except for proper communication with my e-stop button. what am i missing? i tried in the motor tuning section to use arrow keys on velocity slider to make motors turn, had pulse rates set to 0-0, and tried at 1-1. i've allready tried to test run a program that cycled through mach3 fine but the motors didn't do a darn thing. i've spent 30 hrs. help!?!? what am i missing? please help me! |

| Call Keling. They were very nice and walked me through to find my problems. You can try turning your motor shafts by hand to make sure there powered up. They should have holding torque if the driver are working properly. My step pulse is at 2-0 but im not running your drives. worth a try? Make sure you have the right kinda of straight through parallel cable.

| Do the DROs (numbers that show you where the machine is) count up/down? I'm guessing they do, it sounds like you've done your homework. And just to reiterate what finishlinewrx said, make sure you have a "straight through" parallel cable. Test a few of the pins with a continuity tester on a multi-meter to make sure pin 1 on one end of the cable connects with pin 1 on the other end (and pin 15 with pin 15, 20 with 20, etc.). |

i think i found my problem. my friend called me and told me to hit buildyourcnc.com he is wiring the same kit i have, and i noticed a few things i did completely wrong/different (wrong mostly ) i'm headin to work now gotta finish welding a gas tank and hope i will have good news for later! p.s-on mach 3, the ports-pins window, the mach3 manual shows the output tab as having things checkmarked green, like enable and inputs. i have nothing selected in my system. should i? no remote spindle, no coolant pump, just 4 axis simple system with home and lim switches(after i correct my problem) and i will also try clicking the tab in ports and pins the sherline 1/2 step.(thanks rustamd) what is that? like a auto calibrate for sherline mill/lathe leadscrews or something |

| i tried everyones posts, the only thing is when i run driver test, it says mach2 is under control. i'm running mach 3. wtf? my motors are getting resistance, and a weird thing , when i turn on mach3, my estop switch works, but after i run driver test and it says mach2 is under control, the estop switch doesn't work. and yes, it is a straight thru cable. checked to make sure it worked with voltmeter. i uninstalled mach3 and re-install. still nothing. as a bug problem, could i download the trial version from art soft to test ? poss. something wrong with my copy? i dunno. on the break out board, what pins should my jumpers be on? i'm at (in-out)=1-2 (pins 2-9)=1-2 (comm)=2-3 i've set my drivers to every possible step setting, triedevery setting right up to 3.0v i don't expect to fix over night, but any input/sugg are great. can people post screen shots of their input and output tab settings in config-pins/ports-running the same set up as me? i'm running gantry style, slaving A-axis with x-axis. thanks all! |
