TurboCNC modifications

I have modified turbocnc to:
jog with dual X axis using Left/Right keys.
use the * key for fast jog so I can use the numeric pad for jogging

Also, my HobbyCNC board has a power reduction feature modification (see link)

Current Reduction, HobbyCNC - Mach3

What I am going to try to modify turbocnc to reduce power when motors are not active for a set period of time.

Arquibaldo is an unknown quantity at this point

Dear rlwoodjr:

Beautiful machine - very elegant design and proportions - great craftsmanship
- Congratulations!

Would love to see more details: type and size of rods and bushings, screws and
nuts; is it all aluminum?

Thanks.....
All the linear rails are 3/4", the X has an extra middle support. Bearings are Thomson.

The screw drives are 5/8" ACME and 8 threads per inch. The nuts are UHMWPE (Polyethylene, Ultra High Molecular Weight) plastic material. Cut with a tap made from the threaded ACME rod.

Frame is all aluminum on an MDF frame.

I still need to add the YZ cable track and the home and limit switches. I also have a 4th axis (rotary) that I am going to add. So I still have lots to do..

4th axis progress

I made an adapter plate so I could attach the stepper to the harmonic drive.

Harmonic drive is 50:1

The metal behind the chuck is a bearing...need to make a mount for it.

That's really looking good! Excellent job and a nice design. Gotta have one of those one day.

Got the limit/home switches installed. Sure is nice not stalling the stepper motors when you go too far....

Where did you find that one?

It is a 50:1 harmonic drive. I bought a couple of these on Ebay. They do not have any backlash so it seems like a good idea.

I have not made anything yet, but its my next project. I am using GMAX and the CNCtool kit so I have a learning curve.

I had to make an adapter plate...pretty easy when you have a cnc mill.
