I found them on eBay. Search for igus or e-chain.

Dads machines are going home.

Here is the first gear we made. Dad wants to make wooden clocks with his router. He will be taking it home this week.

We did the g-code with Gmax and the cnc-tool kit. The wood is a scrap piece of pine.

Buy me a Beer?

Very nice!

I have seen guys use a belt to tie both X steppers together to minimize damage if one fails or they get out of alignment. Do you have any sort of failsafe planned it one of those steppers starts turning and one does not? Did it on my machine once, it was not pretty.

No plan to tie them together, I figure if any of the steppers miss a step the work is no longer right. It has had light to moderate use and I have not had any problems.

I am working on a servo model and will probably tie them together since the servo error can add up. The stepper position error is contained to one revolution...if you do not miss any steps.

And here it comes the stupid question:
What if the machine is not powered, and somebody rotate one of the X axis by hand?! It's incredible hard for people to keep hands out of the good locking things.

I actually home the machine before every job which makes sure it is square. The steppers move to their own limit switch, then back off....then you are ready to run.
