Speed, here again, with another "I dreamed it up", tool. I had the opportunity to work as a compression mold designer and builder, in that capacity I made Epoxy molds that were water cooled. So if I apply those concepts, one could, theoretically build a water cooling jacketed machine spindle. Here's the idea, if one could embed 1/4" copper tubing into a two part urethane epoxy molded jacket, would that provide enough contact to sufficiently cool a router, such as a trim router, or full size Bosch style, when used as a machine spindle?. I think that a jacket of say 3/4" in thickness could do it. Also, a small water pump, say from an aquarium, feeding the water to a small radiator from a transmission fluid cooler, cooled by a small household fan could work? This may seem Rube Goldberg'ish, but thoughtfully applied I believe it will work. So, what does the zone think about this hair brained idea?? |

| For around $450, you get a water cooled spindle that has more power, is quieter, and the rpm can be easily controlled through your control software. Better option imo. http://cgi.ebay.com/WATER-COOLE-MOTO...3%3A1|294%3A30 I think with your method, the molded jacket might not allow heat to be conducted away. How about wrapping it with copper sheet, and soldering copper tubing to the sheet? The router clamp can hold the sheet tightly to the body?
