I have been wondering how good the Kress spindles are. Do you have a performance comparison and a price for the one you're looking at?

I keep seein 'em in all the finest places...The two models that would seem useful for any substantial woodworking are the 800 and 1050 (watts, so...the 1050 is about 1.4 hp, iirc)

Wierd thing is, very little useful technical data found in my research to date, in spite of the universal praise these things recieve from people who use them. If "quiet, smooth, and precise" were quantifiable, I'd commit already. Prices vary a bit, as well; the 240v models being pretty reasonable, the 110v variants less so (anywhere from 205 to 400 usd). I might go with a 240v 1050 and transformer, as I'm not counting on having 240v power in my shop. Still looking into it, at this point, but they sure do have a good reputation.
