| You can get them with one shaft or two. Depending on the application, you can use the rear shaft for many things. Instead of the front shaft. In addition to the front shaft. For an encoder. Mount a handwheel to it.

| I know that cranking a stepper manually will generate a voltage at the leads. Try wiring two steppers together and cranking one of them. The other stepper will match the rotation of the first. My question is, would mounting a handwheel and cranking a stepper cause any problem to the stepper, drive or power supply?

| I don't think you can spin it fast enough to do any damage. But I'm not an expert.

| Yep, you can use it for a damper too.
