You would be better off with a plastic bearing/bushing such as Delrin of PTFE. http://www.mcmaster.com/#sleeve-bearings/=2efy95 2610T26 or 2639T26 and drill rod. Depending on length: http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?P...PARTPG=INLMK32
Drill rod is a higher polish than CRS and more precise in diameter. It's a pretty darn good precision shaft for the price. Bronze bearings do not work on drill rod or steel shafting well for the common DIY'er as there is no room for misalignment. Bronze bearings does work well on precision shafting as it's precision polished.
