New Machine Build- Deciding on how to drive it.

Well like everyone else I have been reading and reading and decided to take the plunge. I have access to all materials needed and machinery. I work at place who has 4 plasma beds, CNC machines, lathe, pressing machines, rolling and curving.

I asked the boss if he would mind letting me build up the router out of material that is not of a length of any use to them and he offered up the use of any machine if need be.

I have decided on (thanks the floor tiles in my house) a bed of 2000mm x 1300mm. I have picked out a few machines I have seen built here (mainly planecrazies). I am wondering is there a general rule of thumb that is used based on the size of the bed on what style of driving that is going to be use ie Ball Screws, Rack & Pinion, Belt etc.

I have access to linear bearings and rack & pinion due to the plasma beds at work. I would happily go Ball Screws but the size of the table makes me think of using a belt or R&P setup.
