k2cnc router mount for PC690 problems

Hey everyone,

I have a k2cnc router mount for the pc690 and have a problem. Both the bolts used to hold the router in the mount froze up, and ultimately while trying to remove them the bolts broke. I tried using a screw extractor to get the bolts out with limited success. Basically, I drilled in, inserted the extractor, and was able to get about 3/16 of an inch of extra bolt from each before they broke again. Has anyone had any troubles like this and/or does anyone have any idea what I can do?

I think if I ever get them out i'm going to switch to a threaded hole in the mount so that I never have to deal with this again. I think the problem is that when you tighten the bolts down you wind up with a loaded spring due to the design of the mount that can actually overstress/tighten the screws as you are backing out?!

Hope someone has an idea, I'm stuck!

Hi Dennis.
I have a K2 mount for my Milwaukee 5625 router. My mount bolts require very little tightening and are just beyond snug. I wonder if you had a wrong size mount by some error. How tight did you have to make it to hold the router?

I just purchased one last week and the same thing happend to me. I am trying to saw out the seized screws with a jewelers saw but it is slow going. This suck's.

If they are steel bolts in aluminum and especially if they are uncoated, they can seize up without any preventative stuff.
I have a crayon looking thing that is anti seize for spark plugs. It works great. Not too much will help at this point, but you could try a little penetrating oil to help remove the stubs.
If you don't have or can't find anti seize, you can use a candle and just rub it on the threads. It will help prevent seizure. Can't use a candle on spark plugs though.

My mount came with all stainless screws, are they not stainless anymore?

not sure if they are stainless or not, but i am 'glad' to know that i'm not the only one that this has happened to. I emailed the company and hopefully they can hook me up in some way.

actually, the nuts they use are definitely not stainless... still nut really sure about the bolts though.

thanks for the tip about using some sort of anti-seize.
