looking for limit switches

I am looking for some decent limit switches, normally closed(NC) with some decent accuracy. I have been playing around with some switches from radio shack and they work, but are not accurate at all. My board uses 5vdc for these switches.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Ben

Dear Ben,

What accuracy do you want? If .0013" is OK, you can get that with a $2.50 button microswitch.

Best wishes,

Martin

For better limit switches check ebay. Search this number, 7621352713

This seller has a range of limit switches that are reasonably priced.

These are proper limit switches not just micro switches.

No doubt there are many other sellers.

Ben already has micro switches and is asking for ideas on something better.

Purpose built limit switches have an action designed for better accuracy, a robust actuator action and dust protection.

Sure microswitches can be set up for reasonably good accuracy but for very few more dollars, more "decent" options are available.

I am interested in the more accurate ones myself.
The only machine I truely need good home switches on is the router. It is fairly good at keeping it's home position as long as everything goes right. Done so for several months now. It is trial and error otherwise when something does go wrong.

Dear Ben,

Yes, I really am getting very boring indeed, but what accuracy do you seek?

Best wishes,

Buy me a Beer?

the ebay # that Greg posted is a very good price for switches , if Ben is using the radio shack switches that i'm thinking of then thery aren't micro switches .

I used micro switches with the idea they were a cheap alternative until i found better switches but the repeatability that i have got from them is incredible , i put a dial on the gantry and everytime the switch tripped the dial was deanuts on 0 , or give or take a couple tenths every so often due to the fact its a homebuilt hack

Hey guys,
So I don't know if the switches I have from radio shack are "micro switches" or not. The packaging says nothing...they were just $3.50 for 4... and the best I can accuracy I can obtain from these is ".01 and that isn't even all the time. I am only using a router for wood purposes, but changing tools and such really shows in the work. Oh and I am retardedly anal, so I guess I want the best accuracy without going to NASA specs?!

I'll check out ebay and see what i find.
Thanks Greg

Ben

Dear Ben,

http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/sw.../DC_Series.pdf

DC2C-A1AA

Cheap as chips, and dust proof as well.

Why not try it as a start?

Good luck and best wishes,

Martin

Ok, so I checked out the ebay route, but that seller was not able to give me any specs on the accuracy, so I guess I am going to give Cherry a try. And for 4 to 5 bucks, how can I go wrong. If anyone is interested I did find a switch that is accurate to 0.00004" but it is a bit expensive for right now.
