Geof will become famous soon enough

Here is a thread that has a link to an online course:

Someone will also probably come on with a link to some books by Peter Schmid (Did I get the name correct?).

It is a pretty good reference but needs some editing in the Lathe Dept.

Most Lathe guys do not use G54-G59, they usually use the Work Shift.
G18 will be the only work plane you will use unless you have a True Y Axis and Live Tooling. You will also have a C Axis in the Spindle.

G74 is a Face Grooving Cycle that doubles as a Drilling Cycle.
G90 is a short Rough Turning Cycle that is programmed like a G92.
G91 isn't used at all because you would use Parallel Axis to X and Z which would be U and W.
The Control sees U and W and knows it is Incremental.

Other than those it looks pretty good.
