I wonder if anyone who has a Bosch 1617evs would be kind enough to pop the cap, lift the evs box aside and take a picture of the wire connections? I am troubleshooting a noise problem and found one of my brushes had a bad connection to the spade terminal - fine - easy fix but I should have taken a picture before I ran out to the electronics store for a little bag of flag terminals and left my memory somewhere between here and there. I will be eternally grateful to anyone who can help. (as a side note, I've tried many web searches, for images, videos etc and the diagrams I've found aren't detailed enough to indicate to me which terminal I might have swapped.) Many thanks! |

| really, no one can help? I hate to beg or sound desperate, but I'd really don't want to burn out my router - it was acting weird enough as it was and then I got careless when I went out to buy the terminals. In my continued searching last night I found my own post (thanks googlebot) and some others mentioning a wiring diagram somewhere but I was unable to locate it. I really appreciate anyone's help and effort to take and post a picture of the wiring 'under the hood' on their 1617 router (the one with the magnesium base, wood handles and aggressive motor fan). |

| Dan, I don't have one of these, but those who do have one are probably just naturally reluctant to take something apart that is working fine. Be patient, maybe someone will decide to challenge Murphy's Law and help you out. If not, then you will need to buy a spare so you can get the info you need. You will need another one eventually if you use your machine a lot. CarveOne

| Thanks carveone - you are probably right. In case it helps anyone - the actual process doesn't involve the disconnection of anything other than the power from the wall (obviously, or hopefully?) Then two screws on the top cap allow the removal of the cap and the EVS box is laid on there (captured by a little slot and alignment pin) that would just be lifted back toward it's wiring terminals and a photo taken and uploaded. Then reverse the process to put it back together. I'll grab a picture of mine tomorrow (Monday) in case it helps anyone. I am thinking about buying another either the same router or a different model and using that for a while. My evs hasn't had functioning speed control for a while now for some reason - even though I replaced it and have only used it a few times - but it came to me well used and that got me to thinking maybe something in the wiring was incorrect and was burning out the evs controls. Well that and my router isn't acting quite right when I plug it in now... |

| Dan, I am in the same boat as CarveOne. I don't have one. Have you contacted customer service? I have a Milwaukee and CS has helped me out a couple times. I am sure Bosch must have a CS person to help you, at least I hope so. |

| thanks nikodell - that's a clearer version of the same pdf I found in a couple of places. I hadn't noticed the little diagram at the bottom the last time I looked at that parts schematic so maybe I'll follow the leads and get it sorted. As for the bearings and control -I'm not sure what the difference would be between this one and many others - other than the air goes from one end straight through to the other end and passes the electricals. Maybe some routers guide the air in closer to the stator and through the motor and out the bottom bypassing the electricals in the process. BobF - good thought. They may help me, it wasn't my first thought because of the age of the router and it's use/possible misuse before I bought it. I'll look them up though. Thanks everyone - any ideas are helpful at this point. I really want to get the surfacing of my table finished so I can rout a few fixtures and get things going again. |

Yeah, that was the detail I didn't notice in the other schematics I'd found. I've printed a copy to use while putting things back together today. Thanks for finding the link for me - I kept forgetting to go directly to the bosch site. |

| nikodell - many thanks to you and the pdf you linked. It turns out the terminals were not wired correctly when I got the router so following the schematic - I now have speed control. This is excellent and very unexpected. Thanks again to everyone for their ideas and help. |
