Making some progress on my new project. I thought I'd post a couple pics.

I am trying some linear rail ideas based off of the t-slot extrusions. I will be using v-groove wheels possibly running on actual track, but for now I am using 1/8" flat stock...

You can see here that I drilled and tapped the aluminum spacer using the hole pattern for the track so it could be upgraded later... Try to ignore the shiny Home Depot screws. These will be replaced with some black socket head screws at a later date

Some CAD showing the mounting of the track.... (note the low profile socket heads).

I haven't settled on a specific form of the machine yet or even cutting area but I'll continue to post updates here....

Hopefully this new design will be expandable, I might even retrofit it to my MDF table ...

Looking good. I have to say I admire your skill on these projects. I was wondering with the v bearings if there would be any chance of slight back and forth movement due to lateral play in the bearings?

I'm looking to make a new x axis so I'm fishing around for some ideas.

Grunblau, I just discovered your first build thread (awesome) which led me to this one. No posts in 3 years? Did you finish this one?

I believe he's working on something a little different right now.

Only family members and Ger has seen the current generation ....

I will probably post some pics soon as I just got back from vacation in Germany and need to get back to work on it. I am also hybridizing the MDF CNC with some lasercut steel.
