Question DC motors

I have inherited a couple of 24 volt DC motors mith a gearbox attached.
They are from an electric wheel chair.
Is there a way to use these to build the x & y axis ?.
My thinking is to use them to build a larger machine?????
Any help appreciated.

Or is there someplace I can get 3 steppers, controls and software in 1 package?
Have been searching around, finding this and that. will look through this forum some more before I build .
My old Dahlgren engraver is getting too small 12" x 24"

While it is tempting to "use what u got", I recommend sticking with steppers or servos.

Keling has a g540 packge with motors and power supply that is a nice setup, Get a copy of Mach3 and away you go.
The only problem is the budget. How much do you want to spend?

If you have the time, start a build log and put a link to it here so I can follow along and help out if possible.
I have learned a lot from the zone and I like to help out when and if I can.

Good idea,
Still just on the paperwork and idea stage now.
Thinking 36 x 48 inches or a bit bigger.
Have 2x2 steel tubing for table frame, some various rails etc.
Had a couple threaded rod @ 6' but is bent and rusted.
will start more on building when warmer weather comes and can move the
motorcycles outside. yay have room in garage again.

A small CNC machine

Sir,

If you will contact me directly, I can send you pix of the 32 x 36 machine that I made. We can always benefit by seeing the approaches that others have taken. I built this as a test bed to tryout my CNC controller.

Regards,
Jack C.
