looking for CNC parts

Hi all,

I am in the process of putting together a CNC and need some help.

I will be using 2 belt drive linear actuators(23" and 30" stroke) for X & Y axis and a ballscrew actuator with 16"stroke for Z axis.

Hope someone can help me with the following questions:
1. How to connect a spindle motor design for 220v to the US 110v?
2. What is a recommended KW for cutting wood and aluminium?
3. Do i need brakes for the Z axis stepper motor?

Wonder if anyone know where i can find the following:
1. AT Belts and AT Pulley
2. simple opto-isolator breakout board for parallel ports
3. cable guides

I would bet that you could find most of those parts you are looking for on ebay, and for pretty cheap as well. You just need to try different names for them as well to find the deals! Good Luck!

1) Is it a 3 phase spindle? If so, you'll need a VFD.

2) 1Kw to 10Kw, depending on how fast you go and how much material you want to remove. Probably 1.5-2.2.

3)possibly. Depends how much friction there is and how much weight. An air cylinder might help to hold it up when powered down.
