| Thank you Ger21 and TotallyRC, you have both perfectly answered my questions! Now all I have to do is finish the machine and I can be drilling three perfectly aligned pockets in 200mm square stock! Now as a matter of interest, what cam software do you use? I have access to solidworks + solidcam for free through a relative, so I will probably use that combination - does that sound okay? Alien |

| As RC said, if your fixture is always in the same place and you want to go to the corner of the fixture/part and want to make this part zero, then plug the distance from home into one of the G54-G59 registers. G53 will revert back to Machine coordinates. Al.

| I am using Viacad from Punch software. It looks and feels a lot like Cobalt by ashlar but without the $5000 price tag. $99 online from the website. I really like it for my 2d stuff and I am just trying to do 3d with it, so far so good. For cam I use deskcnc for its cam functions. I purchased it to run my router and it does that well too, so I didn't have to buy anything else. The best thing to do if you are looking to purchase software is to download the trial version and test it out, I tried several but didn't like the way they made you think. Let us know how you make out. Mike
