Phife- have you considered making some temporary clamps? These could fix to the top frame beams and clamp the X rails in their centre.

So for jobs that don't require the full X travel, you could just screw the clamps on in a couple of minutes and have MUCH more rigid X rails. It would also be possible to have a couple of positions the clamps could attach, giving you some setup for job X size vs rigidity.

Hey Romanlini,

That sounds like a good idea, the only problem I can see is having it not deflect the rod itself, It would have to be exactly the right size so it supported the rod but didnt push or pull on it.

Currently I am keeping my rapids under 140IPM and my cutting speed at 100IPM, at this speed the rods dont bounce and stay rigid enough to cut well.

I may try your suggestion and see, i'll let ya know how it turns out.
