First Timers First Pics

Hello
Im Nick from Indiana and i am starting my first build. With some current fab skills and some reading from here i am confident i am going to be able to create something that aleast moves

So being my first build. I have no solid set design plans other than it is 48"x48". Going to just build and design as i go along. Might be the wrong way but i like the challange.

Feel free to jump in if you see something that could be a problem!!

Started with 48' of 2x2x3/16 box tube

Running the crap out of my elcheapo band saw.

Seting up my jig table

First Lengths in to position

So far i have the upper frame in a jig of sorts to help square it all up.
Far tube is leveled off of jig table then all the rest is squared from there.

47" ABBA 25mm rails showed up to help with gantry design

48"x 1" assmembly i got from a old maching at work for use on the Y axis.
(End pillow blocks are at work getting bearing pressed in for the lead screws)
Crappy pic sorry

All i got this weekend, should have the gantry laid out and standing later this week.
I will get pics as i go along

Thanks for looking.

Looks good so far! Looks like you are making sure to keep the table nice and level too, that can be the most crucial part. Good luck!

For Electronics I Got a g540 4 axis package from Keling.
With the 387 oz motors.

X & Y i have 1/2-10 5 Start form Mcmaster
Dumpster cnc Anti-Backlash blocks

running 2 leads down x with a slave on a axis to help controll racking

Z i am running 1/2-10 single start.

Software i am running Mach3.
And the programmer at work gave me a copy of Autocad and Mastercam on an extra seat they have. (they pay for 5 seats and only use 2) Luck me.

Im just winging it and building as i see fit so we will see how it looks later??

Looks like you have enough tools and skills to wing it. I'm sure it'll come out great.

Please post your results and how you fixed it. I'm going to be doing a test wireing of mine soon. Is thata keating power supply too? If so it looks like we will have nearly the same setup.

Ended up being a bad pin in my parallel cable. It was shorted out to the solder cup.
Cleaned up the solder connection and everything works great.

Power Supply is the Keling KL-350-48 48v/7.3a

Package i bought is the second listed G540 3axis package

Yep we pretty much have the same setup. They didn't have this package when I ordered though. I probably could have saved some money. But I'm refusing to add it up to know for sure lol.

Is their anyway I could get you to take a few more pictures of your wiring? See how you branched off the wires of the steppers and which inputs on the PSU you used. I'm horrible when it comes to wiring.

This are the guides i used. Ill get some pictures of the motor plugs and such up as soon as i can.

*Make sure you have a straight through parallel cable to start. That will save you some of the headache i went through.*
