Hi everyone, I was wondering if it possible make a homemade cnc, that is able to make pcb boards with smd's on them. I understand (correct me if i'm wrong) that smd's have legs that are 1mm appart. Are any plan's for such a machine? If it is possible could the same cnc be able to make on a larger material such as wood or pvc that is 50cm big (or is that just wishful thinking). Thanks Bobster23 |

| This could do very SMALL PCBs: http://www.kdntool.com/_sgg/m2m3_1.htm And THIS $1700 taig/Gecko could probably do everything you asked about: http://deepgroove1.com/cncmill.htm You can't easily build it for much less. CR. |

| Thanks CR, It is good to see that cnc's are able to do that. What I want to know if anyone has managed to build a homemade cnc that was able to do this. The thing is I am a student (so I'm a bit short on money) and I live in Israel so shipping and taxes will be very expensive (probably double the price). I am interested in robotics so I have all the electronics for free, and the mechanics.... well I have one quality stepper (I took of a photocopier) and I can buy new steppers. So if it is possible to make it (someone has done so) I'd might give it try, if not then I'll start saving up. Thanks Bobster |

| It pretty much all depends on the machine you are using, all machines are different and all have thier own tolerance level. If you are looking for that kind of accuracy, you need a sturdy machine. Good Luck!
