New Machine Build- Olympic College build

Hey everybody, Me and few other engineering students want to build a CNC router for our college. I want to make it 3x2 ft and use Geckodrive G540 for the motor drives but it limits me to 178/205 oz motors. My question is: Will these motors be enough and if not what would be the max table size to go with those motors.

Oh and the build budget is about $600.

Sounds like a fun idea although Im not sure you will be able to pull it off with $600 unless you use alot of homemade and used parts, just the components to make the thing move can get pretty close to that. Good luck and keep us updated!

I have welder and Im good with fabing stuff, I just need to know the max working area that I can get with those motors.

Why are you limited to 205oz motors? The G540 can drive much higher torque motors.

the 3.5A 50v per motor limits me, if Im wrong, then what other bigger motor options do I have?

The router will be cutting plastic/wood and maybe some aluminum.
