Quick PSU/Stepper question.

I am starting a 4' x 8' CNC router build and am about to purchase some components today. I was hoping at least one person could answer my psu/stepper question?
Im looking to purchase
3 x #RS34-960

Looking for a power supply. If I run the steppers in parallel I have yet to find a 110v PSU that will supply at least 14 amps. Do I just have to run them in series or uni then? Thanks!

You will get best performance running them in bipolar parallel. You need 66% of 3 * phase current = 14A at whatever driver voltage you choose.

There are lots of 110V PSU (I'm assuming 110V input, you dont say what output) on the market that will do the job, for example this or Keling do a 35v 15A supply (KL-3815).

But how do you know you need these motors? Do you need that much torque? Could you use smaller motors? What driver will you use that can handle 7A?

I will be using Gecko 203v drivers. Just wanted to get the biggest motors my budget could handle Thanks so much for the PSU links!

If you want the most powerful motor for the buck, the $129 Keling KL34H2120-60-4B 1200 ounce dual shaft is the way to go. It is a 4 wire motor wired Bipolar Parallel INTERNALLY. If you only need the single shaft version, it is $10 less.

Since its best operating Voltage is 78V, it will run very nicely at 72V with the $189 KL7220.

I know this for a fact because I run the exact same motor and power supply with a 203V.

The links work for me also. Keling has been up constantly for last two days. Try pasting the link into your search window.
