Router

Hi everyone

My Porter Cable 7301 just did it's last pass Yep that's right it's gone to router heaven lol
Any one could suggest a good router that i can purchase something with a little more umff something like 1 1/2 hp or 2 maybe that will work on my 12x48 CNC machine.

Just curious...how long did it last? Did you ever replace the brushes?

The guys at Precision Bits recommend the Bosch Colt (1hp) because it has one of the lowest runouts they've encountered. I think their second choice was a router from DeWalt, but I can't remember which model.

I had that router for 1 1/2 years and replaced the brushes once.

I just bought me a Porter Cable 690 variable speed router from here. I don't have my machine built yet, so I can't say how it will hold up. One nice thing is it's variable speed, soft start, and a lot quieter than the 7301.

I guess my real concern is the weight of the router for my machine
