hi, im looking to build a lower priced cnc, im therefore looking into a belt driven machine, im struggling to find much information on them however. the imforamation i am finding im getting a bit confused with. will there be a torque loss with a belt design?, can you controll the stepper rpm or do i need to use a second belt to gear it down? should i even reduce the speed with a belt or simply a couple of spur gears? many thanks |

| Attached is a picture of mine. For the belts and stuff I purchased them from here: http://stores.ebay.com/HUBBARD-CNC-INC Hope that helps. I did not need a second pulley at all. I have 2 8 wire 282 oz motors for the Y axis. 1 of the same for the Z axis. And a single 425 ox 8 wire motor for the X axis. I am using a 4 wire bipolar controller and everything works just fine for me. Just need to re-plain the top of the work area to be even with my cutter again. Today I rebuilt everything trying new designs but what I was trying didn't work. The machine works fine though.
