Time for me to look at my spindle requirements. Would appreciate your advice. I am thinking of the Porter-Cable 7518 or the Milwaukee 5625-29 motors. Both seem to be aorund the same price and HP. What spindle would you recommend. If I could find a reasonably priced HSD I would also consider... Your advice and recommendations gratefully appreciated. thanks Frans |

| Those are the only 2 fixed base routers of that size, I believe. I think they are both pretty even, actually. I've got the 7518, it's a good router. That seems to be the one everyone uses. Even smaller commercial machines, and ShopBot types. I haven't seen the Milwaukee. If you can go a little smaller, you might want to look at the PC 892.

| Thanks Ger21.. The Milwaukee does have a greater range of variable speeds. I think the PC only has has 5 speeds whereas the MW has an ininite range between 10,000 to 22,000 rpm. Whether that makes much of a difference I don't know. If the min speeds for both of them are 10,000 rpm is that still too fast for drilling cycles in timber and Alum?... for example if you were drilling hinge mounts in timber?. Also I was wondering if there was any difference in the noise factor between machines? cheers |
