Hi ppl , Ok I just ordered 3 6ft 1/2 8tpi 4 start hi lead screws, Now I plan on extending my x axis a foot or so after xmas, But I need to install my new screws when they arrive but I do not want to cut them, so Im wondering if I left them at that length would I be looking for trouble, they,ll be sticking out about 2 feet or a foot on either end. Thanks for any help. Graham |

| If you just leave them hanging out there, then definitely yes, you would have a problem with them whipping around. If you place a bearing at the end that would keep it from flopping all over, I wouldn't think you would have a problem at all. If your going to extend it after xmas, just do the minimum that you have to do to add a bearing at the end of the rod and use what you build when you extend it later. Rick |
