I’m trying to build my first CNC for home use. It is mostly would be used for PCB, plastic, carbon fiber and aluminum. Instead of reinventing the wheel I’d love to ask if somebody done something similar and if they have any pictures or Cad files for X Y table. The table should be approximately 24 inch and 12 inch wide with a working table approximately 12in by 12in. I’ll be building X/Y table using ½ inch aluminum and probably 1in or less steel rods. I found some pictures and would like to make something similar to make X/Y table. Would it be ok to use nylon bushings or should I buy expensive linear bearing for steel rods? What size of threaded rod would you recommend? What stepper motor torque would require doing the job? I really don’t care about the speed. It can be slow as turtle as long as it does the job and keep it inexpensive. ![]() |
