I have begun designing my first cnc router. I have built 2 cnc mills and am beginning this project as something different. My big question is should I use a belt setup to move the gantry or ballscrews? I was thinking 3/8" wide .200 pitch timing belts(2 for X, 1 for Y) or using 2 ballscrews for X and 1 for Y. I am planing on using this machine for wood, laminates, and some aluminum. I plan on rigging it with a mist coolant system as well. I want fast rapid speeds (As fast as possible) while maintaining rigidity. I will post some pictures of my intended design as soon as I can. -Adam

| The Thomson rails that I got are about 34.5" long. So that machine will be inside a 34" envelope. I've attached a picture of the basic structure. -Adam
