1/2 thick gantry ends..is it strong enough?

Hi Group

I have a piece of anodized aluminum 35 x 35 large
enough for the vertical gantry ends. I`m wondering
if you feel a thickness of 1/2 would be strong enough
for the application. I`ve seen a few machines in
the gallery that look like they are using 3/4 to 1 inch
ends.

What is the size and shape of the machine, how tall is the gantry?

The design is very close to the link I`ve provided below. The gantry height will be 30 inches.
