I've posted photos of my first 3½-axis router at http://www.iedu.com/DeSoto/Projects/JBot/ - it's intended for use as a programmable joinery machine. Enjoy!

| The tilting router idea is pretty cool. You just need another stepper to tilt it via computer control. Never know when you might need to demonstrate how to make sine wave shaped biscuit slots or some such neat trick. ![]() CarveOne

| CarveOne... Thanks. Originally, all I wanted were vertical and horizontal spindle orientations, with nothing in-between, for some specific joinery tasks. If I do a redesign, I'll probably tilt the entire z-axis so that I can plunge/drill at an angle - and at that point another stepper to control tilt would, indeed, make sense. thkoutsidethebox... Thanks for the kind words. You have a good eye - it's a HobbyCNC 4-axis kit with a bit of surgery done to the board to use the same step/direction signals to control two driver circuits (one for each of the x-axis steppers). It's worth mentioning that the HobbyCNC board and steppers have worked without problem from the very beginning.
