I'm building my TRON machine and it is almost completed. I notice that some of the TRON machines that I see have screwed rods running inside the complete length of the frame on both left and right hand sides. Are these rods absolutley necessary? They are not shown on JENS plans. |

| Threaded rods are used to move the axes from side to side. One down the middle of your machine is all you need. Your stepper turns the rod and the movable carriage has a nut that helps it move. The advantage to two rods is to eliminate the dresser drawer effect, it keeps your axis moving straight instead of rocking as it goes. There are other systems such as belt drive, rack and pinion, ect. Each has its advantages but using a trreaded rod is probably the easiest. Chuck

Thanks Chuck, Sorry if my post was misleading. The screwed rods I was referring to look like frame stiffners, not the actual tapezoidal screws that move the various axis. George |

| sorry, my mistake. In that case I have no idea. Maybe they could be used as adjusters to keep the frame nice and square? But if they are not in the plans then someone got it to work without them.
