| The thread here on the CNC Zone has nothing to do with the router you are asking about, they are two different separate entities. The company that has sold the defective stepper drivers is located in Canada. The person selling the router is a individual located here in the USA. Modular CNC Technology Rio Rancho, NM 87144 United States Please be careful when providing this kind of information. Jeff... |

Hi all, I am using this router. It has been my first experience assembling a CNC setup and has been fun. I ordered the kit from ModularCNC and got one of the last ones with MDF side supports. They are 100% plastic now. Here is my setup: ModularCNC router HobbyCNC Pro 3 axis controller board 3ea 127 oz. surplus 6 wire steppers Surplus 24v linear power supply Older PC running FreeDOS and TurboCNC CamBam and ViaCAD running on my laptop Dremel XPR 400 multi tool (the pics show a HF router that I'll use later.) The ModularCNC router is built like a tank. The plastic is THICK and very sturdy. Assembly was simple...just attach the side supports to the X axis base unit, attach the Y and Z axis unit to the side supports, mount the motors, and that is pretty much it. My only difficulty was leveling the Y and Z axis unit to the table. Pre-drilled holes in the upright supports would help, but no big deal. On a side note, everything that was a commercial item was made in the USA. Nothing in the box was foreign made. Maybe most people wouldn't care, but it was a nice surprise. Andy recommended an upgrade to better drive screws and LoveJoy connectors, so I did that. I am still learning about the capabilities of the machine. I.E. how fast/deep to cut MDF and plastic with the Dremel. So far I am cutting 1/4" MDF at 10ipm in three passes with the Dremel on about 50% to 60% speed. I have no idea if this is good or bad. I like the machine very much and would recommend it to anyone. ![]() ![]() |

| I am looking at getting one of these as my first CNC. The CNC Router Full Package-A, 12" x 11" x 4", HDPE, Gecko and the CNC Milling Machine Full Package-B, 12"x9"x8", Gecko are the two that I am considering for now. Anyone have suggestions? I plan to cut polymers, carbon fiber, and aluminum. |
