Question Find router parts in Sweden?

Hi all!

My first post in this excellent forum!

My intentions are to build myself a CNC Router from scratch. However, finding sources for the necessary parts here in Sweden is taking up all my spare time. I've seen that I have a couple of Swedish fellows lurking around here and this little cry for help is primary directed towards them - but any help from anyone is appreciated.

So, any suggestions where I could find some of the following components (new or used):
- Aluminium extrusions for the body of the construction.
- Aluminium plates.
- Linear guides (I'm looking at Igus as a possible solution).
- Ballscrews.
- Servos and electronic parts.

Gratefully,

Matz

Hi there!

Unfortenately, everything in Sweden is expensive when it comes to CNC machines.
Igus are pretty nice, also try to find linear guides at German eBay, http://www.ebay.de.
Metal parts can be found at http://www.metallvaruhuset.se or at http://www.uddeholm.se and both are very good.
I'm using "Acme" and they can be ordered from http://www.wiberger.se and I think they have the best prices ever found here and they have a lot of useful stuff.
Timing belts, wheels, gearboxes, motors etc can be found at http://www.oemautomatic.se and http://www.momentum-industrial.com. But when it comes to motors (both servo's and steppers) I recommend you eBay or any American distributor. I had contact with a company over seas that offered me prices less then 30% of the Swedish companies!

Lyckat till! Är det inte dags för en svensk tråd snart?

Industrimaskiner, AB
Valhallav. 65, 114 27 STOCKHOLM 08-16 05 20
Fax 08-612 85 29
Mobiltfn 070-718 21 63

might have a few used parts. A user at Elektronikforumet (http://www.geekjoan.com/forum/) bought two SKF ballscrews with nuts for SEK300 (€33). Not bad! I heard they also got cheap ball bearings and machine parts.

Wow! Thank you guys! You're the best!

Never thought I'll get so many good suggestions in so very short time! We'll, this proves what I already knew. This is the best place for a CNC visionary (read: novice) like me!
I'll check out the links you posted. However, if you stumble over some more useful links/addresses, don't hesitate to post them here later on. I'll be watching!

Another idéa I just got was to attend the Teknikmässa (Technical trade fair) in Älvsjö in October. It might be a nice place for breaking new ground. Maybe I'll see you all there!

I've heard that Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha, and Frida are planning on joining this forum too.

Graham, do you really think that would be good? So few of us it will likely die out as it has on Yahoo Svenskahobbycnc.

Benny, I personally think we can manage without that *help*. But if they are willing to put in some money, well thats an other story

A nice beginner DIY CNC Router is the one I have built, look in my Zoltar thread.

Absolute value for your money up and run in a week.

Maybe you can buy the plan and cut it at someone with a waterjet check this chick she can cut almost everything to a decent cost.

Yeah! She (is she a she?) lives in my "neighbourhood"! Just 50km north of my village.
I feels like all the pices are falling together. Got some nice sources for metal and such from you guys, and now you give me a "neighbour" that can cut the stuff I need for my project. Well, how good can it get?
