Hi, My Zoltar is ready for work, the first job was for a friend, two brass plates 1mm thick medium hard. A very nice and neat machine with high capability, from wood to soft metal like aluminium and brass. My next project is a stepped attenuator with 24 positions. Here is a picture of a working Zoltar this machine is equipped with three 0,8A steppers and Conrad EMIS SMC1500 driver and PCNC_SMC software. This is the EMIS web site http://www.emisgmbh.de/smc1500.htm Leffe Last edited by signIT; 08-31-2004 at 12:53 AM. |

Hi, They are from Neutrik this a 5 pole type I think they have 6 poles or more. I have connected them by axiz letter X Y Z, and the rest poles is for end switches, I use common ground for the switches and only four cables from each motor so I only need this three connectors. BTW here is the URL http://www.rcmodels.net/cnc/ to the Zoltar designer Chris Reinder he only sells the plans and maybe some small parts I think this is the most economic way to learn and use CNC technology, common handheld tools can be used no need for expensive tools or machine shop. Hi, I have tried to get more power to X and Y axiz I have some small steppers 2A and 0,8A I have changed to the 2A steppers but it doesn't get more power to the axiz why? is it other parameters that are more important than current, should I buy longer steppers with same flange size, I have seen a nema 23 size with almost same current 1,4A and 1,5A the 1,4A is a short one and the 1,5 is a long I am confused. If I have to stay with NEMA23 size what kind of stepper should I choose. Leffe |

Hi all chip sweepers, I found that this product, Finish Line, can solve the problem with trapetzoid screw I increased the speed 5 times with this product meant for bicycles it contains teflon very nice to use. If the trapetzoid screw is made of steel and the nut is made of brass don't use WD40 it is to thin and it may help to carve into the nut use it as carving oil when you makes threads. Leffe This is the site of The Zoltar CNC Router they have many links to great products for people that will build routers http://www.rcmodels.net/cnc/ Last edited by signIT; 09-07-2004 at 03:05 AM. |
