WTF C11G Gecko 203V

I got my 203Vs and C11G last night.

Plugged them in and only get holding torque.

What type of cable are you supposed to use between the computer and the C11G?

At my work I deal with mostly RS-232 cable... however I figured this was a parallel setup so just used that. Tried an RS-232, an PC to PC file transfer cable, etc. Can't get anything but holding torque on the Mach 3 software... I just want to jog.

I have a C11G running three 203v's with no problems. How are your ports/pins setup in the Mach3 software?

Here's how mine are setup-

Thanks for the picture... that eliminates a lot of fiddling. I'll just use what you got. I tried setting up that way with no success though with three different cables.

What type of cable do you have going from your computer to your c11g? I'm thinking that is my problem. is it a printer cable, serial cable, data transfer cable?... does it say something on the side of the cable? I have too many cables and I'm thinking these are all not for this.

I'm using an rs232 cable (I thought I answered that in my previous post but noticed I didn't).

What type motors are you using? Specs?

Also on the C11G you'll notice the common for the X axis is in a different position than it is for the Y & Z. Although you still should have the Y & Z or the X working.

Give as much info as comes to mind and maybe I can be of more help, if not maybe someone else will have some ideas..

Good luck,

This may sound stupid but.....

is your parallel port enabled? I had the same problem with my set-up and that's how I fixed it.

Ya... I made sure the port was enabled in the bios. Attached the RS-232.

Figured out my EN wasn't getting the 5V it needed. Once that was good... all my output leds light up and stay lit. Still no movement, but more lights.

Do you have limit switches connected? If not, place a jumper between #15 and the 5v next to it.

No limit switches yet. Put the jumper as stated... got 1 more LED light.

All output lights are still lit. (are they supposed to be?)

Didn't know Mach 3 wasn't vista compatible... did the fix I found in another thread. Driver test did good.

Ran the "get port addresses.exe" in mach folder ... got the following results...

LPT1: &H60
LPT2: &H378
LPT3: &HFloppy d

Under device manager it shows LPT1 as being 378.
Under the test... it show it as 60?

Sorry I can't help with Vista. I have thought many times about buying a new PC in the last year or so but keep hearing of problems with Vista and I hate the thought of having to pay to "downgrade" to XP after paying for Vista.

Well... after running Mach 3 setup in XP compatibility mode....

ITS ALIVE.

The default Gecko 203V tuning was spot on. Sat here with the daughter watching in amazement as the motor turned a piece of scotch tape.

For prosperity's sake...

All the lights were lit prior to the Mach3 software being run after being installed as administrator in compatibility mode. Had to install the Mach 3 drivers separately from the other software.

Thanks for everyones help.

Plugged in the other two motors... y z

Z wouldn't activate.

Had the settings wrong in Mach 3... couple of zeros needed to be ones.

Settings attached. Mach 3, Serial RS-232 straight cable, C11G, Gecko 203Vs.
